EL RANCHO GETS A MAKE-OVER
IN 2010!
BEFORE &
AFTER
SNACKBAR JUST GETTING ITS NEW SIDING &
ROOF!
Welcome to the El Rancho!
Built in 1951, and running continuously since it's opening
in 1952. At the front of the field
looms El Rancho's 60' x 90' screen. The first and only the drive in has had.
In the center of El Rancho's 400 car lot,
sits the concession stand, with it's traditional flat roof and classic powder-blue tiled floor. Hours before showtime,
the smell of pop corn, burgers and fried food is smelled coming from this building, thus drawing people away from their
play on the front lawn long enough to have a bite to eat.
Two things have however changed at El Rancho. One very
important feature is the lack of speakers attached to your window needed to hear the movie. Everything is now heard
thru your FM radio. Before the movie begins, "oldies" music is played. Then, as the show begins, the music
ends and movie fills your vehicle.
The other change El Rancho has seen in recent years is the loss of it's old flat roof ticket booth. Snow and
age caused it to cave in. It was replaced by a shed-like building that may not look like the old booth, but serves the
same purpose, and even now allows any height vehicle to pass thru. The old booth, with it's over-hanging roof
forced higher vans and RV's to take another route around the building.
Rather you are a drive in buff, movie fan or just enjoy a night out with your friends and family, El Rancho has it
all!
